Research Interests

I am interested in the impacts of human activities on ecosystem functions of microbial communities. My research goals are to 1) reconstruct the history of metal contamination in roadside ponds, 2) identify the historical and current sources of metal contamination to these ponds, and 3) explore the impacts of metal accumulation on sediment microbiome composition and function, specifically nitrogen cycling functions facilitated by metalloenzymes.
