Research Interests

I am interested in the legacy effects of energy and industrial development on quantity and quality of surface and ground  waters in the Appalachian region. Past underground mining  created a network of anthropogenic aquifers termed "minepools", and the region has a long history of industrial activity and oil and gas development. Mechanisms of water quality improvement and remediation  from legacy pollutant sources directly affect the availability, chemical composition and use of regional water resources.
