Research Interests

My research focuses on how the geochemistry of acid mine drainage (AMD) originating from deep, abandoned coal mines in the Appalachia changes over time in order to inform predictive models and optimize treatment strategies. I am also interested in critical mineral recovery from AMD treatment solids, specifically the behaviors and binding conditions of Co, Ni, and Zn in metal oxides in passive remediation systems.
