Collaboratory Spring 2023 GIS Internship

3 Rivers Waterkeeper

The Pittsburgh Collaboratory for Water Research, Education, and Outreach at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking an undergraduate for a spring internship. The Collaboratory is offering a $1,500 stipend for the semester (Jan.-April 2023). The intern will work 5-10 hours per week with Collaboratory staff and faculty leadership to support data visualization related to a partnership with 3 Rivers Waterkeeper. In 2021-22, Collaboratory staff worked with 3RWK to sample 25 locations in the Upper Ohio Basin for a series of water quality parameters. Now the PWC is seeking an intern with significant GIS experience who can assist staff in developing a story map to help communicate the results and their meaning to a broader online audience.

Collaboratory Spring 2023 Churchill Valley Greenway Internship

The Pittsburgh Collaboratory for Water Research, Education, and Outreach at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking an undergraduate for a spring internship. The Collaboratory is offering a $1,500 stipend for the semester (Jan.-April 2023). The intern will work 5-10 hours per week to collect water quality data and participate in outreach events in the Churchill Valley Greenway with Patrick Shirey (Pitt Geology and Environmental Science), Sarah Moore (Pitt Film and Media Studies), and Renee Dolney (Chalfant Run / Thompson Run Watershed Association). In 2022, the Pittsburgh Water Collaboratory began monitoring water quality and fisheries of Chalfant Run and its tributaries within the Churchill Valley Greenway because of plans to remediate Acid Mine Drainage and restore streams and floodplain wetlands. This internship will help support the next phase of collaborative efforts.
