The Pittsburgh Collaboratory for Water Research, Education, and Outreach is seeking an undergraduate for a summer internship. The Collaboratory, with the support of the Frederick Honors College, is offering a $5,800 stipend for a summer internship (May 8 - August 18, 2023). The intern will work full-time (37.5) hours each week to collect water quality data and participate in outreach events in the Churchill Valley Greenway with Patrick Shirey (Pitt Geology and Environmental Science), Sarah Moore (Pitt Film and Media Studies), and Renee Dolney (Chalfant Run / Thompson Run Watershed Association). In 2022, the Pittsburgh Water Collaboratory began monitoring water quality and fisheries of Chalfant Run and its tributaries within the Churchill Valley Greenway considering plans to remediate acid mine drainage and restore streams and floodplain wetlands. This internship will help support the next phase of collaborative efforts.
