The Pittsburgh Water Collaboratory is excited to welcome Jonathan Burgess in the newly created position of Director. Started in 2017, the Water Collaboratory aims to bridge efforts in water research, governance, and action across the region. Our group works to ensure that water-related data and expertise are accessible to those who need it, that research responds to real community needs, and that students are prepared to solve real-world water related challenges.

Jon has over a decade of experience and leadership in environmental and agricultural science, policy analysis, program leadership and administration. He joins the Water Collaboratory from the Allegheny County Conservation District where he was Director of Programs and Policy. He is an alumnus of Duquesne University and Sewanee: The University of the South. His urban soils work at the Conservation District is a previous recipient of the PEC Western Pennsylvania Environmental Award.

The Water Collaboratory is looking forward working with Jon in this next chapter of growth. His leadership and experience will help expand and tighten the Collaboratory’s network of community and academic connections and facilitate new collaborations and projects for the benefit of the greater Pittsburgh area.

Welcome, Jon!
