Thank you for your interest in participating in Research Agenda Formulation Meetings facilitated by the Pittsburgh Collaboratory for Water Research, Education, and Outreach.
Our first meeting has been rescheduled for November 20, 2018, 3-5pm and will focus on Green Infrastructure. As a starting point, we will aim as a group to identify important knowledge gaps about Green Infrastructure that can then be addressed over time by targeted, systematic research efforts.
If you attended the “Let’s Talk About Water” kick-off event, this meeting will be very different. Likewise, if you have attended many of the ongoing water discussions currently addressing the region’s water challenges, this meeting will likely be different than most of those.
The Green Infrastructure meeting will focus on identifying scientific and technical issues that may be addressed by applying research approaches. This meeting will focus on two questions:
1) What are the knowledge gaps in the planning, design, installation, monitoring, and maintenance of green infrastructure in southwest Pennsylvania?
2) What are the best approaches to fill knowledge gaps in the planning, design, installation, monitoring, and maintenance of green infrastructure in southwest Pennsylvania?
This meeting will be dedicated to the following activities relative to Green Infrastructure:
- Identification of knowledge gaps and determination of science-based ways to remediate these gaps
- Prioritizing the importance of addressing each the identified knowledge gaps
- Building of consensus about the relative utility of methods to fill the gaps
Meeting results will be reported to the larger community
Moderation of Discussion
To facilitate efficient process and encourage participation opportunities for a range of voices, we will conduct small group discussions that will be moderated by Collaboratory participants. Should group discussion divert from the topic at hand, the moderator will ensure that attention is brought back to the original point of conversation. *Please be reminded that respectful dialogue is strongly encouraged and the taking of turns in discussion will be required to ensure all opinions are included.
If after reading the above, you are interested in to participating in this Research Agenda Formulation Meeting for Green Infrastructure, please RSVP by November 13, 2018 at the bottom of this page.
Finally, please remember that this is the first of three Research Agenda Formulation Meetings. The remaining two will cover the topics of Flooding and Water Quality. Although we encourage all participants to engage in Research Agenda Formulation meetings, we recognize your time commitment for each event and request you to gage your level of interest for the various topics prior to RSVP’ing. Announcements and discussion points will be forthcoming in subsequent invitations.
We thank you again for your interest and dedication to the water of Western Pennsylvania and the endeavors of the Pittsburgh Collaboratory for Water Research, Education, and Outreach.
